⨂ Giant Spiny Stick Insect "PSG44", (Eurycantha calcarata)

Common name - Giant Spiny Stick Insect/Thorny Devil Stick Insect
Scientific name - Eurycantha calcarata

This listing is for 5 EGGS, of a beginner-friendly species of stick insect that is well known for its large size and the iconic, lengthy spine that males possess on their hind legs. This species can vary in colour from green to brown in the nymph stages and brown to almost black when adult.

This is the PSG 44 stock of Eurycantha calcarata, which is a locality that is distinct from the widespread PSG 23 stock in Europe. This stock produces adults that are much larger in size and in more of a tanned colour than the usual black. Size comparison of PSG 23 (middle) and PSG 44 (right).

These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Indonesia. The foodplants for this species are bramble, raspberry, oak, beech, etc.
