Common name - Pacific Island Stag Beetle
Scientific name - Prosopocoilus lafertei
 

The listing is for 1x adult beetle, of a RARE species of stag beetle species that has a unique body shape for this genus, likely due to their long isolation on the islands in the Pacific Ocean. They have a thick and chunky body shape that is not seen in the stag beetle family, which is normally slender. Their forewings are a beautiful orange color.

These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from the Pacific Islands, Oceania.

Like many members of the rhino/stag beetle families, the males of this species possess large horns/mandibles used in wrestling matches with rival males, while females lack these structures. The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood.
