⨂ *BULK* Hyper Avatar Millipede, (Salpidobolus sp. "Hyper Avatar")

*Important notice:*
A new, visually similar species was imported in 2026 and has been misidentified and sold by retailers under the same name of Salpidobolus sp. "Avatar". Please ensure that the two species are kept separate to avoid potential hybridisation and ongoing confusion in captive lines.

Key distinguishing features between Salpidobolus sp. "Avatar (original)" and the new, 2026 "Red Tail Avatar” are as follows:

  1. Preanal ring & anal valves colouration:
Yellow in "Avatar (original)" vs. red in the 2026 "Red Tail Avatar".
  2. Yellow dorsal markings:
Begin from the collum (segment 1) in "Avatar (original)" vs. starts from approximately segment 5 onwards in the 2026 "Red Tail Avatar".
  3. Lateral silver/grey highlights:
Present to varying degrees in "Avatar (original)" vs. completely absent in the 2026 "Red Tail Avatar".

Common name - Hyper Avatar Millipede
Scientific name - Salpidobolus sp. "Hyper Avatar (original)"

The listing is for captive bred bulk quantities, of a RARE, gorgeous species of millipede that is characterised by its striking, wasp-like markings of yellow and black, and its yellow/pink legs.

These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Sulawesi, Indonesia.

This is a special line I have been isolating called "Hyper Avatar", which was selectively bred for its abnormally high expression of silvery highlights that run along the side of the body.

Currently, there are two extra morphs of Salpidobolus sp. "Avatar (original)" being circulated in the hobby: 1. "Hyper Avatar", 2. "Line Avatar". Both forms are derived the same species - original Avatar - but have been selectively bred for different morphological traits by hobbyists.

As of 2026, there is a new, different species also being misidentified and sold as Avatars, but this new species is unrelated to the original Avatar, and should be kept seperately in culture to prevent hybridisation in the hobby and millipedes being missold as one another.

The juveniles and adults feed mainly on decaying wood and leaf mulch (decayed leaf litter). Additional supplements such as calcium (limestone/cuttlefish bone), fruits & veg, moss, and protein such as fish food should be offered as part of their balanced diet.
