⨂ Larvae - Margarita Rhino Beetle, (Agaocephala margaridae)

Common name - Margarita Rhino Beetle
Scientific name - Agaocephala margaridae

The listing is for 1x beetle larva, of a very rare species of rhino beetle. Imported adult pairs from Japan have been sold in Continental Europe before for £300 per pair.

The characteristic features of this species is their unusual, foked horn which make them resemble stag beetles, and their contrasting iridescent purple/green upper body against their chestnut brown wings.

These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Para, Brazil.

Like many members of the rhino/stag beetle families, the males of this species possess large horns/mandibles used in wrestling matches with rival males, while females lack these structures. The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood.
