Larvae - Rainbow Stag Beetle "Ruby", (Phalacrognathus muelleri)

Common name - Rainbow Stag Beetle "Ruby"
Scientific name - Phalacrognathus muelleri "Ruby"

The listing is for 1x beetle larva, of a highly sought after species of Stag Beetle that is famous for their metalic, rainbow colouration as adults.

This is the special "Ruby" pedigree which is a selectively bred bloodline that has been carefully selected by Japanese pro-breeders for its red body colour.

These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Queensland in Australia.

Like many members of the rhino/stag beetle families, the males of this species possess large horns/mandibles used in wrestling matches with rival males, while females lack these structures. The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood.
