Larvae - Giraffe Stag Beetle, (Prosopocoilus giraffa)

Common name - Giraffe Stag Beetle
Scientific name - Prosopocoilus giraffa keisukei

The listing is for 1x beetle larva, of the largest stag beetle species in the world. As the species name suggests, these are named after giraffes due to the ratio of their mandibles being particularly long compared to their body.

These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Flores Island in Indonesia.

Like many members of the rhino/stag beetle families, the males of this species possess large horns/mandibles used in wrestling matches with rival males, while females lack these structures. The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood.
