Common name - Gladiator Stag Beetle
Scientific name - Homoderus gladiator
The listing is for bulk quantities of beetle larva, of an orange coloured stag beetle species that are well known for their extraordinarily shaped thorax, which overhangs and forms a hood over their head.
These are CAPTIVE BRED in my collection, with this stock originating from Cameroon.
Like many members of the rhino/stag beetle families, the males of this species possess large horns/mandibles used in wrestling matches with rival males, while females lack these structures. The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood.
