Common name - Barbed Rhino Beetle
Scientific name - Xyloscoptes davidi

The listing is for 1x beetle larva, of a rare species of Vietnamese rhino beetle that is very closely related to the iconic Japanese Rhino Beetle. Although males of both species are similar in appearance, this species possesses extra barbs on their cephalic horn and have a more rugged appearance. Females of this species look very different however due to their highly glossed body.

These are CAPTIVE BRED, with this stock originating from Nghe An, Vietnam.

Like many members of the rhino/stag beetle families, the males of this species possess large horns/mandibles used in wrestling matches with rival males, while females lack these structures. The adult beetles feed on a variety of fruits such as banana, apple, pear, peach and watermelon. The larvae feed on decaying wood.
